Gastric problems during fasting!

 Ramadan Mubarak!

Gastric problems during fasting:

What to do and what not to do.

Fasting during the holy month of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam. Fasting in the month of Ramadan is obligatory for all adult men and women. Many health benefits of fasting for one month a year have already been scientifically proven.

Here I will discuss a little about the problem of Acidity in fasting for gastric patients.
How to avoid gastric problems during fasting?

We have to understand two things very well here.
First, we take some basic ideas about gastric diseases.
Excess food, fried food, or prolonged fasting increases the level of hydrochloric acid in the stomach.
As a result, one suffers easily from gastric and indigestion problems. In this case, abdominal pain, heartburn, suffocation, belching, nausea, flatulence, etc. may occur.

Secondly, Eating too much food or not eating for a long time or eating too much oily food increases the level of hydrochloric acid in the stomach and causes inflammation which we consider as gastric problems.

Symptoms of gastritis:

1. There will be a pain in the upper part of the stomach.
2. Chest will burn.
3. Stomach pain may occur before or after meals.
4. The chest will feel like a dam during food.
5. Belching will come.
6. There will be nausea, and the need for food will decrease.
7. A little food will make the stomach feel full.

Now the question is whether there is any problem of acidity if a healthy person fasts. If we answer in one word, it has to be said that there is no possibility of acidity if a healthy person fasts if he follows the following rules in Iftar and Sahri;-

What to do during Iftari:

1. At Iftari, extra oily food or food that is prepared by dipping in oil such as peyazoo, potato chop, beguni, chicken fry, jillapi, etc. should be avoided as much as possible.

2. Do not eat too much food at once. Many people eat up to the esophagus and pharynx while sitting at Iftari, which can never be done.

3. Iftar can be eaten with hyssop syrup, canned water, etc, and sugary foods such as dates, guavas, chickpeas, semai, etc.

4. Iftar should be a light meal or a small amount of food, then it is better to have dinner after Maghrib prayer. If possible, Taraweeh should be eaten before Namaz. Then after a meal, if you go for a walk and pray, it will become a kind of exercise during Namaz and it will help in digestion and reduce the risk of acidity.

5. Of course, in order to avoid acidity during the month of fasting, you should finish your meal 1 hour before going to bed, both dinner and Sehri, and after eating, you should walk for a while and then sleep. Otherwise, diseases like GERD may occur due to the backflow of acid.

6. Although sour fruits are rich in vitamin C, sour fruits also contain citric acid. So sour fruits should be eaten with caution during fasting. It is better to play after dinner.

7. Tomato is a favorite food of many people during Iftari, but tomatoes contain a lot of citric acids and malic acid and it irritates the stomach, so it is better not to eat too much tomato.

8. Spicy foods increase the amount of acid in the stomach, so raw chilies or extra spicy foods should be avoided.

9. Hot food such as tea, coffee, etc. increases the amount of hydrochloric acid secretion in the stomach, so tea, coffee, etc. should be avoided during fasting.

What to do in Sahri? :-

1. Waking up shortly before Fajr, usually, everyone falls asleep after praying Sahri! However, food should be taken 20-30 minutes before the end of Sahri's time. You can move for some time. It will digest the food. During this time you can drink some water little by little.

2. We think a full day must not eat, and because of this, many people eat full-stomach food! Which is not true at all. Never overeat. Hydrochloric acid will increase in it.

3. You can eat a small amount of rice-bread, vegetables, eggs, milk, meat, etc. But definitely cook with less oil and spices.

4. Those suffering from gastric problems for a long time; They must take gastric medicine as prescribed by the doctor.
